Can you believe this is FLORIDA!? Florida has the highest concentration of fresh water springs in the world, with over 900 aqua coloured pools spilling out anywhere from 6 to 65 million litres of water each day!! The water stays at the same comfortable temperature (around 23 degrees) all year round.
I've listed below 7 of the best springs to visit:
Madison Blue Springs State Park, Madison: A great spring open to swimmers, only $4-5 per vehicle entry fee.
Ginnie Springs, High Springs: One of the most popular springs with plenty of water activities available. Entrance is $14.
Blue Springs (Gilchrist), High Springs: A cheaper alternative to Ginnie Springs ($4-6 per vehicle) and located just right next door.
Crystal River, Citrus County: Crystal River is one of the only places in Florida where you're legally permitted to swim with manatees in their natural habitat. You can embark on a swim tour through the river, but only after being briefed on all of the do's and don'ts of interacting with the animals. Manatees visit the springs every winter.
Devil's Den, Williston: This incredible cave is only accessible to those who are snorkeling or scuba diving and you need to hire equipment.
Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River: Another spring which is frequented by manatees each year - entry ranges between $12 and $20 depending on the season.
Fanning Springs: Another great spot to swim, particularly for families. Entrance is $6.
