Pizza in Naples, paella in Barcelona, snails in Paris, bratwurst in Berlin... Europe is filled with delicious food to try, but what about the more unknown tastes? Here's my top 6 unique dishes you have to try during your Euro-trip!


1. Trdelník in Prague Half donut, half churros, this pastry tube of goodness is dipped in cinnamon sugar and coated on the inside with Nutella. The smell alone is impossible to resist!


Where to get it: While you can buy these traditional pastries at many stores throughout the Old Town, Good Food makes them right in front of you, and hands it to you fresh and hot, perfect to munch on while walking across the Charles Bridge!




2. Lángos in Budapest

Arguably the most popular street food in Budapest, Lángos are a trifecta of delicious calories – deep fried dough, cheese and sour cream! You can also tailor your Lángos to include whatever toppings you like.


Where to get it: The Central Market Hall is a must visit to try local produce and there are plenty of stalls here to buy lángos.






3. Lemon Gelato in Ravello, Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is famous for their local Sfusato d'Amalfi, a special strain of lemon that is cultivated just in this region. So when you’re in this region, Lemon Gelato is a must to try!

4. Gyros in Athens

Greek fast food can’t get any better (or cheaper) than gyros. Pronounced ‘yee-ros’, they take freshly shaved meat or falafel and wrap in a soft flatbread, with tomato, onion, tzatziki sauce, and sometimes fries… Gyros will be your best friend during your time in Greece. You’ll find them being served up all over town, in tiny hole-in-the-wall shops to boutique and gourmet street cafes.


Where to get it: I had more than my fair share during my many visits to Athens, and the absolute best I have ever had is from The Pitta Co. Fresh, tasty and most costing only €3, I could eat here almost every day. My favourite is the falafel pita.






5. Kremna Rezina in Lake Bled

Kremna Rezina or cream slice is a must try while you’re in Bled. Thick layers of vanilla custard and fresh cream, sandwiched between two layers of puff pastry and covered with a dusting of icing sugar. Delicious.


Where to get it: Grajska Plaza Restaurant is located on the edge of Lake Bled and dishes up a hearty sized Kremna for a small price.





6. Honey Gelato in Corniglia, Cinque Terre Another gelato on the list (no apologies, gelato is everything) is the creamy, rich miele flavour made with honey from Corniglian beehives.


Where to get it: Alberto Gelateria in Corniglia serves up this unique gelato experience.
